What happens when you get older and nobody cares.

You wake up and you’re habitually taking out loans for caffeine, wine, vodka, mushrooms, cocaine, antidepressants.

You’re going and you’re moving.

Let me borrow a little from the future just to get through today.

But those quiet days, they're really quiet. The space is full but empty of life. And those quiet periods? They feel like they'll last forever.

Those days that you wish could last forever are long gone.

What's on the calendar? What to do next? What appointment to keep? What event to cancel?

The holidays come around and everyone is busy.

Wouldn't it be nice to try and Christmas?

They have Friendsgivings now, but ho ho ho is still a tight-knit affair. Some forms of intimacy can't be substituted.

Even with Friendsgivings, holidays hit the worst.

From November 1st through the new year.

What happens when you are all alone and nobody cares?

When the days blur with the nights.

They fly by like the cars and trucks, the lives zooming underneath the overpass.

I am standing on the overpass watching through the fence as life comes and goes.

Giclée poetry print on Hahnemühle Paper.
